Model Press Article – Mio Kudo and Ichika Osaki [Call Me by No Name]

Some bits translated from a Model Press Article on the advanced screening event of Call Me by No Name, with Mio Kudou and Ichika Osaki.

When asked about the character she plays, Mio said, “Megumi is a girl with the strength to face challenges, but she also has a delicate side. She’s very pure and somewhat childish. She possesses many qualities I lack, which is why I thought she was wonderful.”

Ichika said playing Kotoha was very hard. “She’s mysterious and possesses a seductive charm that draws people in, which makes her completely different from me. It was a challenge to grasp her essence and define her contours, so it was a struggle throughout.”

Mio struggled filming a sea scene, as she’s not good with water and broke down crying during the script reading. Ichika saw this overlap with Megumi’s struggles, which moved her and influenced her Kotoha performance. Mio was grateful to hear this.

At one point, they had to give each other nicknames. Mio called Ichika “Seafood Princess” because when she asks her what she wants to eat, it’s always seafood. Ichika called Mio “Fluffy Core” for her soft appearance but strong, grounded nature.

In reality, they refer to each other as Mio-chan and Ichika-chan, though Mio prefers Ichika to call her “Miochi.” So far, Ichika has only used “Miochi” a few times, and Mio says it makes her happy whenever it happens.
