Some translated parts from the interview to Mio Kudou and Ichika Osaki (Call Me by No Name) for TV Guide:
When asked about scenes that made their heart race,
Mio said there’s lots of moments that made her heart skip a beat, like when Kotoha suddenly holds Megumi’s chin up (🫣)
Ichika said she was the one making hearts race, rather than the other
way around. She often wondered if she was doing it effectively,
properly delivering all her heart-throbbing lines.
Mio immediately reassures her, saying she definitely made her heart race.
When asked about what they appreciate most of their characters, Mio says she admires Megumi’s ability to face others head-on, directly, especially since it’s something she can’t really do herself.
Ichika likes Kotoha’s composure. Ichika is the type to say things directly, but Kotoha appears to be much more confident and composed than her, which is something she quite likes.
If she could spend a day with her character, Mio said she would go to an all-you-can-eat place. She thinks that, no matter how she’s feeling, Megumi would always say “it’s delicious” about the food she’s eating. She’d like to eat together and say “I’m so full” at the end.
Ichika said she likes thrill rides, so she’d like to ride them with Kotoha. She believes that Kotoha might actually be scared and end up saying “No way!”.
If Mio could say something to Megumi before she meets Kotoha, it would be “Trust your instincts.” What she feels at the garbage dump will slowly get better, so she wants to tell her, “Trust your gut. It’s a good encounter!”
As for Ichika, she knows that Kotoha would probably answer with “What!?” but she’d tell her “Be honest.” As she keeps interacting with Megumi, she’ll ultimately understand what being honest means.
To the viewers looking forward to the show, Mio says there’s a lot of care in the details, even up to the clothing, so she encourages to watch everything carefully.
Ichika adds that by paying attention to things that are not put into words, viewers will then be able to think, “Ah, so that’s what it meant.” Not just in the story and in the lines; there’s meaning even in the footage.
Mio agrees and also invites viewers to focus on the thinking expressions of the characters leading up to them speaking.
