Director Yuuka Eda has posted a beautiful message on Instagram hours before the airing of Call Me By No Name's series finale, and I wanted to share it with you. I believe her words to be filled with love and hope.

hurt so many people before,
you think that maybe the only thing you can do
to stop yourself from hurting someone again is
to let go of the hand of the person in front of you,
whom you hold so dear.
But the
truth is,
you’re the one hurting the most.
Please
forgive this lonely self of yours,
who couldn’t help but believe to be unworthy of love
because of her inability to properly cherish others.
Holding on
to suffering
doesn’t protect from the uncertain pain ahead.
It's like continuing to plunge a knife into yourself,
punishing your past self, into unending torment.
That person
reaching her hand out to you,
is not the one who has hurt you before.
So please, have the courage to let yourself be loved
and take the leap.
Choosing to
believe to be worthy of love,
that there’s an infinite amount of joy,
far greater than the fear of losing it…
That’s what it means to be kind to oneself.
And that’s what we all wanted to prove with this 8th episode.
And because
I know just how difficult that is,
I gave it my all, facing this uncertainty head on, day after day.
I still haven’t figured out the answer myself.
But there’s
one thing I can say for sure.
That is, that I want Megumi, Kotoha,
and everyone I met through this drama,
all of you, to be happy.
Let’s be strong, together,
as our vulnerable selves.

I'm convinced that one of the reason why Call Me by No Name hits so hard, emotionally, is because it has resonated deeply into everyone involved into its creation. It's been made and acted with heart, and you can feel it every step of the way. I feel an immense amount of gratitude to all those who made it possible for this show to come into existence!
