Some bits translated from a magazine interview to Yurika and Yukka, about Chaser Game W:
The show is set in a game development company and grapples with many different themes, Yurika says, and since Fuyu is married and has a young daughter, it was important for her to also express family love.
While it wasn’t a piece of cake to build the power-harassing side of the character, Fuyu’s lines are very harsh to begin with, so Yurika says it was enough for her to speak them out without restraint to make them sound mean enough.
Yuuka says the show has been a great opportunity for her to learn about various different societal issues. She thinks Chaser Game W is a groundbreaking drama that instead of showing what it wants to show, aims at showing what usually goes unseen.
While she’s reliable and with a strong sense of justice (that leads her to cover for her co-workers, for example), Yuuka says that Itsuki tends to end up spinning her own wheels.
Something Yuuka and Yurika have in common is the love for sweets, says Yurika, so they bonded quite a bit over discussing about the sweets they got to eat on set.
In regards to their on-screen relationship, they would talk about the characters’ past, also fantasizing about things that were not mentioned in the script. Thanks to this, they managed to start dancing to the same beat as Itsuki and Fuyu.
Yuuka is thankful to Yurika because her presence helped her feel relaxed and at ease on set, despite the fact that this is her first drama experience after 7 years.
Yuuka also says she got to learn a lot from Yurika, especially by observing her switch from off to in-character, and spend time in the build up of emotions for the scenes.
Up until the 3rd episode, says Yurika, the show has moved along as fast as a rollercoaster, with very quick and dynamic developments. No time for hesitations, including for the slapping scene, which was the real deal.
Yuuka adds that the intense clashing between Itsuki and Fuyu made up for a constant feeling of tension in the scenes, with no holding back.
But things, my friends, start to change from episode 4 onwards, as the relationship between Itsuki and Fuyu begins to move on to a reconciliation stage.
Yurika says she believes that Fuyu fell in love with Itsuki by observing her strong will, her leadership qualities and her reliability.
Yurika adds that Fuyu’s real feelings will soon start to come out. She makes a point of wanting for women to watch this drama, which has lesbians as protagonists.
Yuuka says that while Fuyu is a tsundere (acts tough and aggressively, but is a softie inside), she has a very sweet and lovely side. She then invites the viewers to look forward to new developments.
While as of now Chaser Game W has seen the occurrence of quite extreme scenes (slapping, kneeling down, etc.), future episodes will also reveal scenes that are specifically apt to the late night broadcasting of the drama.
Lastly, alternative summary for ep 4: After meeting by chance with Fuyu and Tsuki, and since Fuyu’s husband has yet to return home, Itsuki decides to stay at Fuyu’s. As the two of them share memories from the past, they get closer and closer…
